What better time than Valentine’s Day to share our one of a kind country music engagement. To me, this was the ultimate romantic gesture but to some this might be your worst nightmare!
Hey Pretty Girl
My husband and I are HUGE country music fans and have always loved going to concerts together since we met in 2008. Kip Moore came out with a song “Hey Pretty Girl” in 2012 and this quickly became ‘our song’.
Hey pretty girl, lets build some dreams
And a house on a piece of land
Plant some roots and some apple trees
Hey pretty girl, lets build some dreams
Hey pretty girl, you did so good
Our baby’s got your eyes
And a fighters heart like I knew she would
Hey pretty girl, you did so good
The Concert
Here we are tailgating (as we usually did before any country concert) outside of the Toby Keith and Kip Moore concert on June 22nd, 2013. WOW we look so young. I had no idea I would be leaving this concert engaged to this crazy guy. Fast forward to 6 years later with two kids and a house on a piece of land with some apple trees.
Evan has some connections in the country music industry so typically we were able to attend meet and greets with the artists. We have had a chance to meet Blake Shelton and Tim McGraw! At this concert we were able to go backstage which we had never done before. I was so nervous being up there looking out at the 25,000 people thinking wow I don’t think I could ever do this for a living.
When our song came on Evan pulled me out on stage to dance. I still actually had no idea he was going to propose to me. At the end of the song, he got down on one knee, the spot light hit us and he asked me to marry him. The crowd went crazy. Kip Moore even handed Evan the microphone after the song was over. I was dying. It was such a surreal moment and I will never forget it.
I am so grateful to have it captured on video, you can watch it over on my instagram page. The best part was, he had 16 of our friends and family in the audience and I had NO clue. We walked out to the lawn and they were all there. What an amazing surprise.
Planning: Save the Dates
If you’re like me, you love planning a party. I couldn’t wait to begin outlining the details of our wedding. There is so much that goes into it but if you are just getting started you’ll want to be sure to send out save the dates as soon as you have a location and a date confirmed.
I decided to do magnetic save the dates to announce our engagement and you can still find it stuck to our fridge 6 years later. You may want to schedule engagement photos so that you have a quality photo to use but there are lots of beautiful options without photos. You can also choose to upload your own design.
I’ve chosen a few of my favorite options for save the date invitations from basic invite. Some things I love about their site:
- Custom Samples – You can order a printed sample of your invitation so you can see the cards’ paper quality, and how it will print before you place your final order.
- Over 40 Different Envelope Colors – You can choose from over 40 different envelope colors and all of their envelopes are peel and seal so that the envelopes can be closed quickly and easily. (Sealing envelopes can be the worst part so this is a big win for me!)
- Free Address Collection Service – Use their free address collection service to request your addresses with just three simple steps! Share a link via social media or email, collect addresses, and you get free envelope printing.
Also – if you are looking for an amazing barn venue in Pennsylvania, look no further than The Farm at Eagles Ridge. I look forward to sharing more details about our wedding soon!
