I forgot how much I enjoy learning. Call me a nerd, but I really enjoyed going back to school as an adult to get my Masters degree. This How To Start a Money Making Blog course has been so much fun for me. Every day I would find myself looking forward to the next topic on the list. I can’t believe I haven’t invested in a course prior to this, really. You can check out my previous post from a couple weeks ago with my initial review of the course.
Major Takeaways
Pinterest Growth
Elaine’s course really helped me dive deep into my stats and see where my viewers are coming from and what they want to see. I used to be a math teacher, I love data. Turns out Pinterest is my #1 source of traffic to my blog by a landslide. So I used the tips from the course to work on my Pinterest over the last few weeks. Here are my results from July 16th to July 30th.
If you aren’t sure what each of these statistics mean I’ve broken them down for you here:
- Impressions – The total number of times your Pins were shown.
- Audience – The number of people who have viewed or engaged with all Pins you’ve saved as well as any Pins that have been saved from your claimed website.
- Engagements – The total number of engagements (saves, closeups, link clicks) on your Pins.
Freebies and Opt-Ins
You have to give people a reason to sign up for your email list. Why are you here?! What do I have to offer you? Here are some examples of freebies I have created and this course has given me the push I need to develop some more.
It’s okay to promote your content. You work hard on it, and if you don’t promote it, people who will love it will never see it. That just doesn’t make any sense. I even updated my LinkedIn account, which I hadn’t used since I left my corporate job in banking years ago. I had SO many recruiting messages 🤣.
Consistency is Key
As I mentioned in my previous post, this is my biggest struggle and I have already had some success with planning and posting consistent content. I found this planning app called Trello. I may be late to the game on this but it’s AH-mazing. I love paper planners but this really allows you to keep several lists organized and always know what comes next.
I highly recommend you check it out. This is my fourth blog post this month – Friday Favorites tomorrow will make five! This is the most I’ve ever posted on my blog since I started it, and I’m having fun and feeling successful 🙌🏻 So yes this is me giving you permission to ask me when my next post is coming if you haven’t seen me on here in awhile.
