Thank you LadyBossBlogger + Elaine Rau for sponsoring this post!
I started my blog, mrsmeganjane.com (formerly Red Wine & Sunshine) about two years ago now. In the beginning I definitely started it as a hobby, a creative outlet for myself. As I have learned more and more, I’ve realized the crazy potential of turning it into a money making business! Wouldn’t that be a dream? With all dreams, comes a lot of hard work, research and investment.
I’ve recently dedicated myself to taking this blogging course by LadyBossBlogger and wanted to share it with you! Maybe you are following along because you love motherhood, Target Style & Home Decor and have always dreamed of starting your own blog too. Well, here is a great opportunity to get started on it. If I can do it, you can do it! I’m so excited to tell you more about what I have learned and what’s included in the course.
Who Is This Course For?
This course is for a beginner/intermediate blogger. Honestly, I wish I had invested in a course like this before I dove head first into my blog because I’ve just been learning as I go. This course breaks down each step from start to finish, and really helps guide you with decisions along the way such as:
- Where should I host my blog?
- How do I choose an email provider?
- How do I come up with a tagline?
Speaking of tagline, what are your thoughts on changing mine to this?! 🤔
This blogging course is also very helpful for an intermediate blogger like myself who has already set up their blog but needs help monetizing it and understanding things such as how to:
- develop an effective email marketing strategy
- optimize my social media channels in order to get subscribers to my blog
- interpret WordPress analytics
I am only about halfway through the course and so excited to continue learning and growing.

What I’ve Learned So Far
I’ve taken so many notes already that I wanted to share with you!
First, Elaine shares great examples of successful bloggers in each niche. This is where I would begin if I were first starting a blog – check out the big bloggers for inspiration/ideas. Study their page layouts, themes, color schemes, and logos. What do you like? What would you do differently on your page?
When writing or creating content, always come from a service oriented perspective – how can you serve your audience to make their lives easier, to fill a void in their life, or make them happier? It’s really easy to write about your life or share photos of cute babies but how can you help others? What’s in it for them?
You must spend equal if not double the time promoting your content once you’ve posted it! Read that again. Once you have posted your content, your job is not done! This brings up the importance of growing your email list. Organic reach on social media has become quite difficult, so the best way to get your content out so that people actually see it is via email.
