These double stacked cookies make a great gift for a loved one or the perfect party treat for your galentine’s day celebration. You could individually wrap them in these cute valentine’s day bags or put a few in a heart-shaped valentine’s day box to gift to your neighbors. Having an at-home date night or movie night with your kids? Make these for a fun holiday sweet treat.
There are a couple of different ways that you can put these cookies together. Today we are going to do a layer of chocolate chip sprinkle cookies on the bottom and a layer of heart sugar cookies on the top.
What Are Stacked Cookies?
Stacked cookies are double decker cookies made from stacking two different cookies together. These stacked cookie recipes gained popularity on social media, going viral around the holidays. It’s such a fun and easy baking hack.
You could of course make them with homemade dough but these are typically made using store bought Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and seasonal Pillsbury cookie dough. And who doesn’t love having a little cookie dough in their fridge to snack on as a late night treat?!

How to Make Double Stack Cookies
(Makes 16 cookies)
- Preheat oven to 350°. Open package of Toll House chocolate chip cookie dough and gently break apart. Sometimes it’s best to use a butter knife to score them so your cookies come apart in even square chunks.
- Place chocolate chip cookie dough on baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
- Bake cookies for about 5 minutes, just enough for them to begin to spread.
- Carefully remove cookie sheet from oven and gently press the sugar cookie dough into the chocolate chip cookies.
- Continue to bake for another 10-12 minutes.
- Remove cookies from oven and let them cool on baking rack and try not to eat them all!

Make Ahead: These easy stacked cookies can be made 2 days ahead. Baked cookies once cooled can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature.
Leftover Dough: The cookies come in a package of 20 and only 16 will fit on a cookie sheet so you could do two batches. Or since these are individually packaged, what I like to do is make 10 cookies and then you can store the leftovers in the fridge to make a second batch another time.
Double Stack Cookies for Any Occassion
These are our favorite treat to make during all the holidays. Pillsbury is always coming out with new seasonal styles. They tend to go quick in stores, so any time you see them I recommend you grab a box. They are usually on the end cap together because the stacked cookie hack has become so popular.
Other Variations of Stacked Cookies
Another version you can make are using two layers of sugar cookies. The recipe is exaclty the same but for the first sugar cookie layer, you will roll the dough in holiday sprinkles. Bake for 5 minutes, then top with the holiday shaped sugar cookie. I have tried both, and you can’t go wrong with either combo.
I suggest giving them both a try. I would love for you to share your cookies with me here or on instagram. Feel free to tag me @mrsmeganjane or send me a DM. It’s always fun to connect with new mamas over on socials.
